Boston City Councilor At-Large
"I filed this with Councilors Durkan and Weber and my full intention is to have this hearing because this is an issue that's very important to our residents," said Santana. "Get some answers as to why some neighborhoods are receiving their mail on time and why other neighborhoods are not."
"It's unacceptable," Santana continued. "People rely on mail to be delivered on time and we're seeing a significant shortage in multiple neighborhoods here in the city of Boston."
“Austin has undergone substantial reforms in its zoning and development practices resulting in an increase in housing production, stabilized home prices, and even reduced rents, despite a growing population and strong local job market,” Santana said at a Boston City Council hearing with the Austin delegation Tuesday. “The success Austin has experienced demonstrates the potential for zoning land use and planning reforms to create lasting impacts on housing availability and affordability.”

“I believe public events on Boston Common and in Downtown Crossing are a part of the solution, not the problem,” he wrote in a statement. “We shouldn’t let a handful of bad actors force us to sacrifice the events that bring us together and build the community spirit that makes Boston unique.”

“People are so familiar with public attorneys in our criminal legal system, that it just doesn’t occur to them that this kind of court case can limit when someone has the right to an attorney,” Councilor Henry Santana said during the March 21 hearing on the proposal. “This is one of those issues that as soon as you hear the problem, it seems very obvious to fix it.”
