Statement on the Incident at the Condon School

As Chair of the Education Committee, I am deeply troubled by the reports involving the inappropriate use of restraints on students at the Condon School.

The staff involved have been placed on leave, and an investigation is underway. As a former BPS student myself, this incident is a breach of trust with our community, but I have every confidence that Superintendent Skipper, Superintendent Driscoll, and the BPS Office of Specialized Services are conducting a thorough investigation, and will re-earn the community’s trust by taking appropriate action to address the staff involved, and working to ensure protocols are consistently complied with across all of our BPS schools to prevent an incident like this from ever occurring again. I encourage any community members with concerns to contact my office.
