Affordable Housing Funding Awards
It’s been an exciting week for positive housing news! I was honored to attend the City of Boston’s announcement of its latest affordable housing funding awards. The event highlighted over $64 million in funding for 12 transformative projects across eight neighborhoods.

Boston Cares at Boston Latin School
Ran into Attorney General Andrea Campbell at today’s Boston Cares event at Boston Latin School, where we gathered for a day of service to honor Dr. King’s legacy. This event was a wonderful opportunity for individuals, families, and friends to come together and give back to the community.

We kicked off MLK Day in Mattapan at the Josh Kraft Teen Center for their inspiring MLK Day of Service luncheon. This gathering brought together community leaders, advocates, and young people to honor Dr. King’s legacy and discuss ways to foster positive change.
Visit to the Blackstone School
A huge thank you to the Blackstone School for welcoming us, along with Superintendent Skipper, for a site visit today. The 6th-grade class asked some tough and thought-provoking questions, tackling big topics like where they see BPS in 15 years and what my favorite part of being a City Councilor is!

Last night we hosted a dinner that brought together 11 Boston-area orgs focused on affordable housing & members of the Austin City Council delegation. It was an evening of dynamic conversations & networking, centered on exchanging ideas & strategies to address housing challenges in both cities.
Austin, TX Visits Boston: Rose Kennedy Greenway
Last stop on our day 1 tour with the Austin delegation was the Rose Kennedy Greenway. We began at the Chinatown Gate where Robert Stigberg, the Greenway's Director of Maintenance & Capital gave us insight into the Greenway’s inception and growth as well as its efforts towards conservancy in the city.

Our next stop with our visitors from Austin, TX was Lyrik Back Bay, a groundbreaking project built over the 8 lanes of the MA Turnpike & 2 active MBTA railways. Some of our Austin colleagues, eager to learn about highway capping. Peter from Samuel & Associates guided us through a presentation highlighting key aspects of the project.

We kicked off the tour with our delegation from Austin, TX at The Pryde in Hyde Park. Executive Director, Gretchen led us through a tour of the facility where we discussed adaptive reuse, building preservation and ways to create affordable housing opportunities with multiple funding sources.

Kicked off the holiday season in Roslindale tonight at Adams Park for the Annual Tree Lighting! We sipped on hot chocolate with the community, caroled to festive tunes, and eagerly awaited Santa’s arrival.
