It was a pleasure to be joined by Councilors Pepen and Mejia, alongside Gladys Oliveros, the City of Boston’s Latinx Community Liaison. We had a great time enjoying a beautiful summer day with Boston’s Dominican community.

Allston/Brighton Coffee Hours with Mayor Wu
Revisited Brighton roots today at the Allston/Brighton coffee hour! Councilor Santana, who attended Winship Elementary after arriving from the Dominican Republic, shared how the school made a lasting impact on him. Heard from Kate England, Director of Green Infrastructure, about how green initiatives can address neighborhood issues like flooding and updates from Mayor Wu on the Jackson Mann Community Center’s upcoming move.

We had the pleasure of joining Green Roots for their inspiring event, the Caminata Verde. Green Roots, a dynamic community organization, holds these weekly walks with East Boston residents to foster connections, promote exploration, and encourage physical activity.
4th annual Juneteenth Celebration in Hyde Park
Today we attended the 4th annual Juneteenth Celebration in Hyde Park, which was an incredible experience amidst perfect weather, surrounded by rich culture including Black artists and vendors. The event featured multiple stages and a variety of activities celebrating Black Joy and honoring Juneteenth. We were inspired by powerful speakers and joined by Representative Pressley and Mayor Wu.

Delighted to have been a part of El Mundo’s ¡Tu Salud! Event at Fenway Park! The day was filled with valuable health resources, lively music, dancing, and fun games for kids. It was wonderful to see families and friends come together to celebrate health, culture, and community.

28th Annual Corporate Breakfast with the Caribbean American Carnival Association of Boston
Thank you to the Caribbean American Carnival Association of Boston for inviting us to the 28th Corporate Breakfast in Dorchester last week. We enjoyed Diana’s beautiful rendition of “America the Beautiful,” admired Eileen’s stunning outfits, and appreciated the opportunity to connect with association members including former City Councilor Tito Jackson and President of the association Shirley Shillingford.

A drizzly morning on Thursday resulted in a shift of venue at the Hyde Park Coffee hour with Mayor Wu. Shoutout to Katie Jones for all her work through Boston Housing Authority doing constituent services! It was great to engage with Hyde Park community members and discuss local issues.

Spent a sunny morning at Medal of Honor Park in Southie for Mayor Wu’s Coffee Hours. Congratulations to Belkis Diaz for winning the raffle! It’s always a pleasure to connect with neighborhoods and have meaningful conversations with residents about their community’s unique needs.

Spent the morning in East Boston engaging with residents and neighbors at the Mayor’s Coffee Hour! Thanks to the students from Curtis Guild Elementary School for their assistance during the Q&A, and a special shoutout to Matthew for reading one of the Mayor’s questions!

We attended the Orient Heights Neighborhood Council meeting and discussed community concerns about tree roots damaging sidewalks, citywide ADUs, scooters on sidewalks, and pedestrian safety.
