Invocation with Reverend Irene Monroe at the Boston City Council Meeting

Thank you to Reverend Irene Monroe for leading the invocation at today’s Boston City Council meeting. Reverend Monroe is a distinguished public theologian, ordained minister, syndicated columnist, and nationally acclaimed activist.

She co-hosts the podcast and Boston Public Radio segment ALL REV’D UP on GBH 89.7 FM and serves as the Boston voice for Detour’s African American Heritage Trail. Reverend Monroe is a founder and honored member of several national LGBTQ+ Black and religious organizations and has received numerous awards for her activism.

As we approach National Coming Out Day this Friday and celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month in October, I was honored to invite Reverend Monroe to share her unique perspective as a Black member of the LGBTQ+ community.
