Latinx Heritage Month Celebration at City Hall

As Hispanic Heritage Month draws to a close, this week we had the privilege of celebrating the remarkable Hispanic leaders and community members who make Boston stronger and more vibrant.

Our office had the honor of recognizing Maria Sanchez, former President of the Board of the Mission Hill Neighborhood Housing Services (MHNHS). Throughout her distinguished career, Maria has been a tireless advocate for fair housing and community development, not just in Mission Hill, but throughout Boston.

A special thank you to State Representative Jeffrey Sanchez for joining us in celebrating his mother’s extraordinary contributions to the Boston community.

This year’s honorees for the Pilares de la Hispanidad 2024 included:

  • Wilson Martinez from Santo Domingo Restaurant

  • Marlyn Urquiza cofounder of SIDE Presents

  • Christian Rosa from Rosa’s Liquors

  • Enilda Lovo of Neighbors United For A Better East Boston (NUBE)

  • Juan Chavez owner of Moreno Auto Collision

  • Raquel Navarro from Sociedad Latina

  • Belkis Diaz, founder of South Boston en Accíon

  • Yelena Rodriguez, Latin Artist of the Year

  • Ayesha Lawton, Boston Police Officer and Mentor with the C-6 Youth Leaders

We are deeply grateful for the dedication and leadership of these individuals who continue to inspire and uplift our city!
