Emergency Management Listening Session

On Monday, we hosted an Emergency Management Listening Session as Chair of the Public Safety & Criminal Justice Committee, bringing together representatives from several prominent Boston organizations. This gathering provided a platform to discuss emergency management preparedness and identify areas for improvement across a variety of sectors, including healthcare, higher education, utilities, and water.

The open discussion centered on the various hazards and threats facing the City of Boston, as well as partnership opportunities to enhance the city’s ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover after emergencies.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our distinguished panelists from the following organizations:

International Association of Emergency Managers, Region 1
Metro Boston Higher Education Consortium
Conference of Boston Teaching Hospitals
Boston Water and Sewer Commission
Eversource
National Grid
Vicinity Energy
City of Boston Office of Emergency Management

We also appreciate the questions and contributions of Councilors Murphy, Flynn, Durkan, and Coletta Zapata; Council President Louijeune; as well as the staff members from the offices of Councilors FitzGerald, Mejia, Weber, and Breadon. Your participation and insights were invaluable in making this session a success!
